Widows Sons, Badlands Chapter Zone 1 & 2 Ride

This is basically about a 355 kms ride through some of zone 1 & 4 with the intention of spending some time walking around Big Valley and looking at the sites. Starting at Tim Horton’s in Lacombe and heading to Cedar’s restaurant in Forestburg for lunch. Back tracking 8 kms to the 855 South with a scenic ride through the mining area stopping for pictures along the way. Turning west to Stettler Tin Horton’s for a break and fuel. Then heading to Big Valley to look around. Leaving Big Valley heading on the 590 West to the 835 North and onto hwy 12 west ending the day at Tim Horton’s in Lacombe.

0945 hrs Meet at Lacombe Tim Horton’s

1000 hrs Leaving Lacombe = head East on Hwy 12 to Hwy 21 through Mirror {42 kms}.
[125 kms] Turn North {left} on Hwy 21 to Bashaw on Hwy 53 East {right} {19 kms}.
Note: Watch for sign to Mirror off Hwy 12 onto Hwy 50 about 28 kms from Lacombe.
Note: At this time, we can stop for a quick rest or to pick up anybody else coming
from other places if anybody wishes to join us at that point. Will arrive there
about 1045 hrs.
Continue East on Hwy 53 to Cedar’s Restaurant on the right in Forestburg {64 kms}.
Note: This will be a lunch break stop and you can fuel here for a 120 kms ride as well.
You can fuel across Hwy 53 at Fast Gas after lunch.
Arriving at about 1130 hrs and departing about 1230 hrs.

1230 hrs Back track West on Hwy 53 {8 kms} to Hwy 855 South. Turn left heading south to
[120 kms] Hwy 12 {34 kms}.
West {right} to Stettler Tim Horton’s on right for quick break {40 kms}.
Back 2 kms to Hwy 56 South [signs for Drumheller] to Hwy 590 West {right} to
Big Valley {33 kms}.
Head to Main Street on left side in Big Valley to Park near Outriders Restaurant {5 kms}.
Note: Will be stopping along the Hwy 855 mining area for pictures.
Arrive In Big Valley about 1400 hrs & depart around 1500 hrs.

1500 hrs Head back to Hwy 590 and turn West {right} to Hwy 835 North {right}. {10 kms}
[106 kms] North on Hwy 835 to Hwy 12 {32 kms}.
West {left} on Hwy 12 to Tim Horton’s in Lacombe {64 kms}.
Arriving in Lacombe for a final coffee at around 1615 hrs.
