Profiled by Police??
It started one evening last week, Reg K and I were out for a ride, we did a loop around Edmonton, about 130 Kms. We split off on the Manning freeway, he going south, me East. A patrol car pulled in behind me and followed for about a mile, before throwing the lights on. Two constables, one senior other younger.
First question??? What is "Badlands?" kinda looked like Bandito's with the backrest on seat obscuring the full patch. #2 Who are "Widows Sons"? I went through the Masonic connection, the fact that we have over a dozen Past Masters that ride together, and we are a (some of us) a respectable group of guys. License, registration, insurance, everything in order. Can we take a picture of your patches???? Sure, giver. they took two flicks of colors and advised they would be sending them out with the advise that "Widows Sons" are the "Good Guys".
Having my Masonic and Shrine badges on the saddle bags doesnt hurt either.
Riding home, it came to mind, Profiling or curiousity???? Now I know how the "other guys" feel when someone puts them in the bucket with everyone else because of lack of knowledge and not having asked the correct questions, I dont blame the constables and was not intimidated by them or had any reason to resent the time or edification offered. More power to them if they pass on the info that we arent a bunch of drug runners and just an" Association of Riders", socially responsible and law-abiding. They were respectful and straight forward, met on the level and parted on the square. Don
